20 February, 2025
On February 20, 2025, the Romanian Cyber Care Health (RO-CCH) team organized an online webinar dedicated to healthcare professionals, titled ""Cybersecurity in Healthcare: Tools, People & Awareness."" The event was an integral part of the official calendar of RO-CCH project activities, implemented by the National Cybersecurity Directorate (DNSC) and funded through CNECT.H – Digital Society, Trust, and Cybersecurity, under the DIGITAL-2022-CYBER-02-SUPPORTHEALTH call.
Key Topics for Cybersecurity in the Healthcare Sector
The webinar was focused on strengthening cybersecurity in the healthcare sector, a field that is extremely vulnerable to cyberattacks. The event provided an important opportunity for participants to learn about the tools, technologies, and strategies that can be implemented to protect IT&C infrastructures in healthcare institutions. In a digital age where medical data is becoming increasingly valuable and exposed, securing this data is essential to protect both patients and the entire healthcare system.
Cybersecurity Through the Lens of Human Factors and Education
One of the key points of the webinar was emphasizing the importance of a solid framework for education and training in cybersecurity for staff in healthcare institutions. As cyber-attacks become more sophisticated and frequent, continuous employee training is a crucial component in protecting critical infrastructures. In this context, RO-CCH highlighted the need to raise awareness and preparedness to prevent and combat cyberattacks that can have a devastating impact on healthcare services.
Valuable Resources for Healthcare Professionals
Participants had access to concrete solutions and examples of best practices for implementing a high level of cybersecurity in healthcare. The webinar also addressed challenges and solutions that focus not only on technology but also on human factors, which play an important role in preventing security incidents. In this context, healthcare staff must be trained and understand the risks, playing an active role in protecting sensitive data and critical infrastructures.
Conclusion
In conclusion, the webinar highlighted the importance of integrating cybersecurity into the organizational culture of healthcare institutions, emphasizing that protecting patient data and IT infrastructures is not only a technical responsibility but also an educational one. RO-CCH continues to support initiatives that promote security and education in healthcare, contributing to the protection of this essential sector against increasingly complex cyber threats.
